What are Hunting Blinds?
Hunting Blinds are enclosed hunting platforms that are designed to make a hunter's movements and scents virtually undectable to game while allowing the hunter to spot and hunt game.
Most feature 1-12 windows, black interiors to conceal movements and control shadows, ground skirts to trap in scents and keep the elements out, and camouflaged exteriors to help them blend in completely with their surroundings.
Who uses Hunting Blinds?
Hunting Blinds can be used for a variety of purposes but they are primarily used by wildlife photographers and hunters, especially bow hunters.
Gun hunters use them because they allow the hunters to change positions without their movements being detected and because they help trap the scents that are easily picked up on by game.
Due to the limited range, bow hunting blinds provide bow hunters the necessary camouflage to allow them to be within range of their targets while completely concealed, especially in the open field.
Wildlife photographers, like bow hunters, also need to be close to their targets to get the best shots. Hunting blinds allow them to observe and photograph wildlife up-close without being detected.
What are different types of Hunting Blinds?
There are many different types of hunting blinds but they can be broken down into five main categories: standard, partial, chair, multiple-person, and hunting blinds designed primarily for bow hunters.
Standard blinds are all-purpose, one-person hunting blinds designed for any situation. They can accomodate gun hunters, duck hunters, bow hunters, or photographers but are not designed specifically for any specialty and are the most common type of hunting blind.
Partial blinds are usually designed to be very lightweight and portable and are designed to conceal the hunter from only one or two directions. For example, our Cut & Run Blind by Rhino Gear features two camouflaged walls, weighs only 7 pounds and is designed for hunters on the move.
Chair blinds are designed for hunters who prefer to hunt in comfort. They are built around a chair and usually feature one large shooting window (sometimes covered by a shoot-through mesh material) and 4-5 side windows, allowing the hunter to be aware of his surroundings at all times. While chair blinds offer more comfort and are usually cheaper than hunting blinds, they limit the hunter's shooting options because the hunter can only shoot in one direction.
Multiple-person blinds are designed specifcally for two-person hunting teams. These blinds are larger than standard blinds and are built to comfortably accomodate two hunters in the field.
Bow-hunting blinds are designed primarily for bow hunters. They are usually taller than standard blinds and normally features larger, shoot-through mesh windows. Bow-hunting blinds are built to accomodate larger bows and to allow the hunter more standing room.
Are Hunting Blinds portable and easy to deploy?
They most certainly are. Hunting blinds can range anywhere from between 3 pounds to 30 pounds. They are designed to be set up in a few minutes but some can even be set up in a few seconds. Most of our blinds come with a carrying pack with backpack style straps.
